Tucson Strip Clubs: Strip club shooting leaves one dead

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) – One man has died after a shooting at an eastside strip club.
It happened just after 5 p.m. Thursday at The Candy Store on 22nd Street and Craycroft Road. The victim, David Tyne, 31, died after being taken to the hospital.
Police say the shooting happened after an argument just outside the club involving two men in a white car.  Investigators are still talking to witnesses, but they suspect the shooting may be gang-related.
“I heard about 5, 6, 7 shots,” says Brandon Humphrey, who lives nearby.  “I got in the truck and came over and they got a guy down at the front door, laying on the ground.”
This is the second shooting this year at the club.  Two people were injured in a shooting last March.  They recovered, but no arrests have been made in that case.

Tucson Strip Clubs: Police accuse pair in death of tot

A mother and her live-in friend were arrested Saturday in connection with the death of her 1-year-old son.
Police responded to a call last Wednesday about a child in respiratory arrest at a north-side home in the 100 block of East Kelso Street, near East Grant Road and North First Avenue, a Tucson Police Department release said. Police were told that Brett Dillon, 1, fell into a bathtub and hit his head.
The boy was taken to University Medical Center, where it was found that he suffered from massive closed head trauma.
He died two days later from the injuries, police said on Sunday.
TPD’s Dependent Child Unit investigated the incident and determined the child was in the care of Ryan Fitzgerald Sullivan, 32, while his mother, Melissa Julie Bizilia, 20, was at work.
On her online MySpace page, Bizilia lists her occupation as a stripper.

Tucson Escorts: Topless dancers wrongly cited

The chief is not the person in charge of reviewing the applications, Pacheco said. Another person in the department is designated. A license will be denied if the person is under 18, has made any false statements in the application or has been convicted of certain sexual offenses.
In Phoenix, both topless and fully nude dancers are required to be licensed. The cost is $28. The requirements are the same for both types of dancers with the exception of age — fully nude dancers must be at least 18 years old, while topless dancers must be at least 19.
Dancers in Phoenix will be denied a license if they have been convicted of prostitution or have had a license revoked in the last five years, according to the Phoenix City Clerk License Services section.

Nearly three dozen citations given to exotic dancers at the Candy Store last week have been dismissed after Tucson police determined they should not have been issued.
The dancers were cited for not having an adult entertainment employee license. However, only exotic dancers at fully nude clubs — which the Candy Store is not — are required to obtain that type of license, said City Attorney Mike Rankin.
Candy Store manager Steve Carringer called the incident “unfortunate.”

Tucson Adult Entertainment: Prison term for violent robbery

… The male ordered her around, knocked her down to the floor and demanded to know where the money was,” Davies wrote in the arrest affidavit.
Benson forced the woman into the basement and locked the door so she couldn’t escape, court documents indicate. The woman waited until Benson left the residence to escape through other doors leading from the basement.
Benson ransacked the home and then fled with the woman’s purse, wallet, credit cards, jewelry and an antique Civil War era revolver.
Within days of the robbery, detectives developed Benson as a suspect after Benson used one of the victim’s credit cards to dial an adult entertainment phone sex line based in Canada, according to court documents. Detectives traced the charge and call to a Philadelphia residence where Benson was staying.
