Tucson Adult Entertainment: King service has Jesus as its star

Ms. Dixon urged members of Lo-Salem, whose church is near an outdoor basketball facility, to go out and get to know the young people who shoot hoops during the warm months. They could take them bottled water, she said. They should stay and talk to the young people, she said. If church members are filled with Jesus Christ, she said, that essence ”will come out of your pores” to the young people, Ms. Dixon said.
”Dont expect sinners to knock down your [church] doors,” she said. ”Jesus said, Go and make disciples.
”Are we willing to step out of our pulpits and out of our pews and make a real and practical difference in the lives of the gang bangers across the street, the alcoholic next door, and the prostitute we drive by, in order to draw them to Christ, teach them how to use their skills to make legal money and show them how to be real fathers and real mothers to their children?”

Tucson Adult Entertainment: Tucson man aims to open home for ex-cons in need

In February, he rented a four-bedroom house and started fixing it up. It’s a two-year lease with an option to buy. In April, he hopes to turn it into a home for women who are transitioning from prison back into the community.
There’s still a lot of work to do, but Rice is encouraged by some recent successes. A local appliance store donated a cooking range, he said, and another local business donated carpets for the bedrooms.
Rice said he needs to get heating and cooling installed next. He’s been working a lot on the grounds, and he envisions a “serenity island” garden for the front yard that will include a waterfall and fish pond.
“There have also been some donations of labor, but with the economy, it’s been pretty depressed,” he said.
More than 10 years ago, Rice managed a notorious motel along Miracle Mile. The motel, now closed, attracted mostly drug addicts and prostitutes.

Tucson Adult Entertainment: Some Focus on the Modern Slave Trade During MLK Day

Almost 47 years have passed since Martin Luther King, Jr. made his famous “I have a dream” speech. The United states and the world have made major strides since that time, but human trafficking still has millions enslaved today.
Chair of the Flathead Valley Martin Luther King Day Community Celebration Reverend Darryl Kistler says, “27 million is almost a number that is beyond anything we can think about. That would be taking every person in Montana and multiplying us by 27 and that’s how many people are involved or enslaved by human trafficking.”
According to the U.S. State Department, trafficking exists in every single U.S. state and around the globe. Between 14,500 and 17,500 people are brought to the U.S. every single year under false pretences. Many are forced into prostitution, manual labor, and other services.

Tucson Strip Clubs: Phone’s ringing! Restoration renews classic 1920s-era model

Phone’s ringing! Restoration renews classic 1920s-era model Earl Pennington strips the oak exterior of the circa 1920s telephone. ELLEN SUSSMAN PHOTOS | SPECIAL TO THE GREEN VALLEY NEWS By Ellen Sussman, Special to the Green Valley News Published: Wednesday, January 13, 2010 6:46 PM MST
Earl Pennington calls himself the “male stripper” because that’s what he does, sort of, when it comes to antiques, furniture and grandfather clocks.
By stripping, sanding, staining, polishing, refinishing and reassembling the pieces, Pennington does away with the worn and sometimes beaten up layers of beloved family heirlooms as well as store-bought pieces that a collector just had to have.
Accustomed to refinishing chests and bureaus, tables and chairs and other household pieces, Pennington recently took on a challenge that was out of the ordinary for a stripper like him.
