Tucson Adult Entertainment: ‘Illegal alien’ costume controversy splits between immigrant rights, free speech

The “costume is hilarious,” wrote grhspartan. “There are too many people in this country that are too easily offended. The PC police really worked overtime on this one.”
While national retailers Target, Amazon.com and Walgreens quickly pulled the costume, others did not.
“It’s not a caricature of an illegal immigrant; it’s a play on words,” said Jalem Getz, CEO of BuySeasons, which owns buycostumes.com. The company sold out its supply of 150 costumes over the weekend and doesn’t expect to have more available to ship before Halloween, spokeswoman Lori Sansoucie said Tuesday.
Halloween USA is selling the costume at some of its stores, including its Walker location at 3165 Alpine Ave. NW. But they aren’t selling well, an employee said.
Cooper Jones noticed the costume on display at the store hanging an arm’s reach from pimp and Border Patrol costumes.
