Tucson Adult Entertainment: New Police Chief takes over in South Tucson

… For many years we’ve had landlords that have been absentee landlords. They’ve been sent their checks and haven’t really been monitoring their properties,” Chief Richard Munoz said.
He is working on Chapter Seven, a neighborhood protection ordinance so landlords are held accountable.
“This is what the chapter seven will help us with is places where we get an inordinate amount of calls,” Munoz said.
“Because of our staffing levels we haven’t been able to do any proactive things,” Munoz said.
He has two police positions to fill and a third position has been created with stimulus money. When they’re up to 18 full time officers, Munoz plans to use an 80 thousand dollar Stone Garden grant.
“They’re going to include prostitution stings, drug stings, we’re going to be checking for drop houses in the area,” Munoz said.
