D-M airman gets 8 months for pointing gun at civilians
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 08.22.2009
A Davis-Monthan airman who carried a loaded, concealed handgun into a local strip club and threatened two civilians will spend eight months in federal confinement and will be booted from the military with a bad-conduct discharge.
Senior Airman Jeffery M.B. Strickland also was stripped of his stripes with a rank reduction to airman basic at his court-martial in Tucson, which ended Friday.
Strickland, a member of D-M’s 355th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, was arrested by Tucson Police Department officers around 2 a.m. on March 22 at Ten’s Showclub, 5120 E. Speedway.
A military charge sheet describing the allegations said Strickland pointed a loaded handgun at two civilians in the club and threatened to shoot one of them. The airman, who is black, also uttered a racial epithet against one of the victims, who is Anglo.
